Foundation

★★★★☆ 7.6 / 10

Foundation is an ambitious adaptation of Isaac Asimov's landmark science fiction series, one of the most influential works in the genre. The show follows mathematician Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), who has developed psychohistory — a science that can predict the future of large populations. He foresees the fall of the Galactic Empire and establishes a Foundation to preserve knowledge and shorten the coming dark age.

The series expands on Asimov's novels in ways that reimagined the material for modern television. Where the books focused on ideas over characters, the show develops personal stories while maintaining Asimov's grand vision. This has pleased some fans and frustrated purists, but the result is a visually spectacular meditation on the rise and fall of civilizations.

Jared Harris is superb as Seldon, a man carrying the weight of a future he can see but cannot fully control. Lee Pace brings magnificent presence as Brother Day, one of the cloned emperors who rule the Empire. His performance captures both the arrogance and the vulnerability of absolute power. The Cleon dynasty — three clones ruling at different ages — is a brilliant addition to Asimov's world.

The production values are among the highest ever seen on television. The show creates an imperial aesthetic that feels both ancient and futuristic, with costumes and sets that are extraordinary. The space sequences rival anything in cinema.

Foundation is essential for science fiction fans who appreciate epic scale and philosophical ambition. It's a show about history, power, and whether humanity can learn from its past.
